BOEING BEGINS FINAL ASSEMBLY OF THE NEW GENERATION 737

Boeing plans to manufacture almost 50 737 MAX jets per month from 2018 (Boeing)

Officials from Boeing in Renton factory in Washington, gathered all the major parts of the first 737 MAX 8 this week and are now ready to start the final assembly of the aircraft. New generation jet 737, the new unit is scheduled to fly in early 2016 and should come into operation a year later, with the US company Southwest Airlines, the same year that the series turns 50.

Boeing met the fuselage of the new 737, manufactured by Spirit Aerosystems in Kansas, the wings, which are built in own Boeing. With that completed portion, the manufacturer began installing the flight systems and insulation blankets. Next comes the engine installation and assembly of the cabin. And most of the components is state of the art.

The wings have winglets designed exclusively for the 737 MAX, which reduce fuel consumption up to 1.8% compared to the current 737 to previous generation winglet. But the engines are the most responsible for the aircraft's efficiency. According to Boeing, the turbojets of the new 737 are 16% more efficient, which can represent a major cost savings for airlines that purchase.

Boeing also predicts that the 737 MAX will still have operation and maintenance costs up to 20% lower than those charged in the current version. Because of these advantages, the American manufacturer has received 2,869 orders for the new jet from 58 customers worldwide.

Boeing will build the first 737 maxs exclusively on the new production line in Renton factory. After the mechanical test and approve the production process, the production of the device will be extended to the two other lines of late Renton assembly.

"The opening of a new production line in Renton increases our flexibility and capacity, allowing this incredible team to continue meeting the needs of our customers with the single-aisle aircraft Destinations Awards for a long time," says Scott Campbell, vice president and general manager of the 737 program and leader of the Renton plant.

The first 737 MAX will be the version 800, the second highest of the series with 39.5 meters long and up to 200 passengers. There will also be options 700, with 149 seats, and 900, which can carry up to 220 passengers.
