Helibras and the 3/8 GAv Puma Squadron conducted the incorporation ceremony of the first H225M squadron in the Air Base of Afonsos in Rio de Janeiro.
The event had the presence of operational and logistical Air Force commanders and several guests against a backdrop of the current Super Puma helicopters used by 3/8 GAv.
The ceremony also marked the 35th anniversary of creation of the Cougar Squadron, named after the helicopters that operated at the time. Six years later, the former Puma was replaced by the Super Puma in conducting search and rescue missions, Transportation, Aeromedical Evacuation, among others.
The most modern helicopter family, H225M, will operate within the same range Squadron activities, and be prepared to also act in situations of natural disasters and major events in the country to receive.
This aircraft offers an operational extension to the activities of the Force, especially the ability to flights during the day and night. And even before the receipt, the crew conducted training to master the new machine.
The classes were taught by 1 / 8th GAv Squadron Hawk, of Bethlehem, unit deployed H225M in 2011. trainings were conducted in daytime flights and basic night, IFR, crash situations training in one of the engines, water rescue and other uses of modern technologies and helicopter systems.
The training also included maintenance techniques and activities with the rescue team.
