TAM REVEALS ITS FIRST AIRBUS A350 XWB

Company will be the first in the Americas to operate the new next-generation jet

Tam will be the first airline in the Americas to receive the A350 XWB (Airbus)

The first A350 XWB for Tam came out of the Airbus paint shop in Toulouse, on Tuesday (15), revealing the aircraft with the signature red, white and blue of the company. The next aircraft production steps include the installation of engines, cabin furniture finishing and assembly of the cockpit before starting their ground tests and flight.Delivery of the aircraft is scheduled for December this year.

Tam will be the first airline in the Americas to fly with the A350 XWB and the fourth to operate the model in the world. The Latam Airlines Group, created from the combination between LAN and TAM Airlines companies Airlines, has already ordered 27 A350-900 models.

The first of Tam A350 starts operating from January 2016, between Sao Paulo and Manaus. Later the aeraonve will take over the routes departing from São Paulo to Miami and Madrid. The new jet has 348 seats, and 318 in economy class and 30 in business.

New flight experience

The A350 is currently one of the most advanced commercial aircraft with engines that consume up to 25% less compared to previous generation models and massive use of carbon fiber wings and fuselage, which reduces the weight of the aircraft.

The commercial jet also has wider panoramic windows, larger luggage compartment and a new air conditioning system that does not generate drafts, as well as in-flight entertainment systems and connectivity of last generation.

The version of the A350 acquired by Tam, the XWB is the largest of the series so far, with 66.8 meters long, and able to go further: model has a range of 14,000 kilometers.

In late August 2015, the A350 XWB has already received 782 firm orders from 40 customers worldwide. In addition to the Tam, the Blue and Avianca companies also have an interest in the new jet Airbus.
