Pilots are gone Republic Airways for bankruptcy for lack of pilots


The American Republic Airways filed for bankruptcy claiming that among the reasons for the difficulties is the lack of pilots. The news the odd principle, especially the pilot over other countries, comes at a time of great instability in the US regional aviation. The Giants also Sky West and Seaport Airlines announced a series cuts in the current network, unavailability of labor.

Traditionally, US regional airlines offered more modest salaries and the possibility of future experience joining with a large national company. However, restrictions on hiring in large companies for years have been an impediment to attract young drivers looking for a career in commercial aviation. Also in 2013, Congress approved a series of changes in the law regarding the hiring pilots for regional companies.

The new rules stipulate that drivers must be at least 1,500 hours of flight, compared to the 250 hours required previously. With the new limit became unattractive a career, especially the lack of opportunities to accumulate such hours and low wages. Many pilots are choosing to leave the United States in search of more promising careers.

Republic Airways is one of the largest customers of Embraer in the United States. The country still suffers from some regulations incumbent regional airlines to operate aircraft with a capacity to 80 seats. Congress studies remove such restrictions, which would help alleviate the cost and could open the market for the Embraer 190 and 195 in the United States.
