Dishwasher helps reduce stress

New study suggests that the activity causes a therapeutic effect in the body, with significant reduction of nervousness and increased mental stimulation

The dishes carefully can ensure effective detoxification for exhausted minds. It is suggesting a new study recently published in the journal Mindfulness and conducted by researchers at Florida State University in Tallahassee, US.

For the study, they recruited 50 students with an average age of 20 years. Half read an excerpt of 230 words, which stood out the sensory experience of the dishes. Then they had to wash 18 dishes clean.The other group read a text of the same size, but explained on optimal techniques for washing up properly. They then washed the same amount of food. At the end of the experiment, all subjects interpreted the readings verbally and in writing.

To reach the conclusion, researchers evaluated before and after the activity, positive and negative personality traits, state of mind and psychological well-being. The results showed that the nervousness decreased by 27% in those who did the dishes mindfully and mental inspiration increased by 25%.According to the researchers, both changes were statistically significant.

The dishes carefully also caused sensation of time passing slowly. Studies have associated the time change of perception with an increase in welfare sensation. There was the same change in the control group.

Meditation - The English term mindfulness can be translated into Portuguese as "mindfulness" and is a technique that refers to both a peaceful cognitive status as a popular form of therapy meditation, able to calm the mind and body to focus attention on an object or activity, like breathing. According to the study, daily activities can provide opportunities for informal practice.
