Snowden opens Twitter account and follow a single profile

Former analyst at the National Security Agency (NSA) of the United States, Edward Snowden, opened on Tuesday a Twitter account. In his first tweet, Snowden asked, "Can you hear me now?". Ironically, it follows a single profile on the social network: the American agency for which he worked.

"I used to work for the government. Now I work for the public. Director inFreedomofPress," said the former analyst in the description of your account, which takes its name fromSnowden. Through the nonprofit Freedom of the Press, Snowden works to safeguard the public interest journalism by exposing mismanagement, corruption and violation of the laws by the US government, according to the group's website .

Two hours after the release of the first tweet, over 337,000 users have come following the Snowden account verified as true by the social network. The first message Snowden, currently asylum in Russia,was retweetada for 43 thousand people and bookmarked the same number of users.

Different personalities welcomed the Snowden as astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, who said he felt a vibration "geek" with the entry on Twitter the "man behind the world's revelations of mass surveillance."
