SYRACUSE, New York - A pilot of American Airlines fell ill and died in flight early on Monday between Phoenix (Arizona) and Boston, forcing the diversion of the Airbus A320 for the Syracuse Airport in New York. The 147 passengers and other crew members were doing well.
According to the airline, the flight 550 pilot had a health problem in the middle of the flight. In a cabin in the conversation with the tower, the co-pilot calls for emergency medical treatment to his colleague. The aircraft landed shortly after 7am.
It was revealed the identity of the pilot, nor what he suffered.
"We are incredibly saddened by the fact, and we are focused on providing support to the family and colleagues of our pilot," reported the AA.
Hours later, the flight was reappointed by the copilot and a new team, and came to Boston.
