Boeing recorded last September 22 to patent a basic concept of a new cargo plane. The patent number US9139283 (B1) discriminates a plane unconventional lines, with a wide rectangular fuselage, with right angles and suggesting be a huge space for cargo.
The concept foresees that the model can carry large amounts of filler that are stacked aboard efficiently because of the rectilinear shape of the fuselage. The proposal is to establish a plane able to compete with trains, ships and trucks in cargo mass transit, including large.
The information in the patent show a plane powered by four large turboprop engines and blades from rotating. Studies predict a cruising altitude of around 18,000 feet. Probably because of the large aircraft, making it less efficient aerodynamically, and the fact of not requiring a pressurized cabin.
The landing gear can be lowered allowing reduce the height of the aircraft from the ground, similar to that existing in purely cargo planes.
Although conceptual, the project shows that the airline industry seeks to offer new solutions to the increasingly complex cargo transportation. The project probably will not pass the study phase, but could result in a future definitive model based on the results of this initial phase.
