An earthquake measuring 6.7 hit the municipality of Tarauacá in Acre, in the early hours of Thursday (26). The tremor was recorded at 0h45 (3:45 a.m. GMT) at a depth of 604 km.
The US Geological Survey (USGS, its acronym in English) recorded the quake, which occurred about 400 km from Rio Branco. There are no reports of damage or casualties.
Another tremor
On Tuesday (24), residents of at least six cities of Acre - Rio Branco, the Southern Cross,Tarauacá, Sena Madureira and Xapuri Santa Rosa do Purus - felt an earthquake. The earthquake was also felt in Rondônia and Manaus.
As reported by the USGS, the quake of magnitude 7.6 occurred at 20:45 (GMT) in the border region between Peru and Brazil - with its epicenter in Peru. Also according to the USGS, the quake had depth of 602 km.
According to the commander of the Fire Department Acre, Carlos Gundim, no Rio Branco in damage record. "Just frightened people asking for inspections in buildings," he said.
The quake was also felt in some areas of Manaus. A college in the South Central Zone released students. Residents of buildings in the same area down the buildings after feeling the quake.
