Rolls-Royce has launched a new enhanced version of the Trent XWB, the standard engine for the Airbus A350XWB. The new Trent XWB-84 EP (Enhanced Performance) will offer another level of performance when compared to the original Trent XWB-84 , it offers an improvement in the consumption of 1% fuel, without compromising the original features.
The Trent XWB-84 EP incorporates the technologies of greatest thrust of the Trent XWB-97,the first engine will be delivered in late 2019 to feed an A350-900 from Singapore Airlines, and from that date all aircraft will be equipped with the option EP, which is more efficient.
The improvements implemented in the Trent XWB-84 EP include:
- Refrigeration of improved aerodynamics and turbine based on the Trent XWB-97.
- Best admission and secondary air seal between stages which was also based on the Trent XWB-97.
- Turbine System Optimization Trent XWB-84, for reducing clearances between moving parts.
The new engine can equip any A350-900XWB even allow the implementation of two different engines for aircraft provided that you follow the maintenance recommendations for each, this allows aa simplicity in service and easy replacement after years operating flights.
