Airbus is analyzing a possible demand for an even larger version of the A350, which is currently the largest aircraft of only one floor manufactured by Airbus. The forecast to publicize the study and the A350 with enlarged fuselage is for the Farnborough Airshow, which will take place in July, according to the head of sales, John Leahy.
The Airbus aircraft will enter a market between A350-1000XWB, which has capacity for 369 passengers in two-class configuration, and 777-9X, which has an estimated capacity of 406 passengers in two classes. For this expansion Airbus would have to increase the size of the fuselage, analyze the performance of the wing and incorporate engines with higher power. Although this amount of change, Airbus said that this project is as viable as the largest 787 being planned by Boeing.
