KLM received first E175 equipped with saving pack


KLM Cityhopper yesterday received its first Embraer E175 aircraft equipped with the new wing-tip, which promise improved fuel economy by optimizing the vortex generated at the wingtip. The first flight will be carried out on this aircraft will be on March 27, flying from Schiphol to Stavanger.

The new economy pack offered by Embraer further lengthens the life of the first generation Ejets, changes were made in the Anti-Ice system in some aerodynamic points along the fuselage and wing, the landing gear fairing, among other changes. In total Embraer promises 5.5% less consumption for the E175, KLM states that it is possible to achieve up to 6.4% depending on the flight.

KLM has orders for 18 more E175, which will replace the fleet of Fokker 70 by 2018, and will also provide greater efficiency per seat and fuel economy. The E175 offers and greater cost savings, capacity for over 8 passengers, 10% more than the one found in the Fokker 70 KLM will also have the facility to keep the fleet in common with the current 30 E190, easy maintenance and scale pilots.
