Rolls-Royce Trent 1000TEN new tests in flight

Rolls-Royce has completed the first tests of the Trent 1000 TEN in flight, this engine will power the entire line of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, from the smallest version (-8) to more passenger capacity (-10). This engine will be able to provide up to 78,000 pounds of thrust in its version with more power, and it will logically equip 787-10.

The first flight of the engine was carried out with a Boeing 747 that served as a test platform, the engine cowling was incorporated into a different painting that clearly highlighted the type of engine used, the tests were performed with airport runway in Tucson, Arizona, USA.

Iain Dudley, Head of Marketing for the Trent 1000, said: "We are delighted that the first flight was fine and we look forward to a successful program with 747 tests before starting the test flight with a Boeing 787 still this year. We know that this engine will deliver a radical change in terms of efficiency and performance for the 787 when it enters service. In fact, it is perfect for this aircraft. "

More than a million and a half of flight hours were successfully achieved using the standart version of the Trent 1000, and now the TEN version will offer new fuel efficiency levels and propulsion for customers.

The feature of the Trent 1000 TEN version includes a new sized compressor system from the engine program Trent XWB and a new turbine design to allow extra boost. But even for exclusive TEN is a modulated air system which optimizes the secondary air flow into the engine via a valve system with no moving parts, a robust system that provides performance benefits.
