At the Dubai Air Show, Paulo Cesar Silva, Embraer Commercial Aviation executive, said the company plans to have six Embraer E-Jet E2 in the test and certification campaign. Initially there will be three E190-E2 prototypes and two E195-E2, which should be flying by the end of 2016, followed by a third E195-E2 in early 2017. However, it was not confirmed how many prototypes will be the E175-E2, the smaller capacity version of the new family. The first prototype of E190-E2 (PR-Zey) is in advanced stage of construction and should be completed even in the coming weeks.
The new E-Jet family E-2 is the second generation of dedicated family of regional jets from Embraer. The new aircraft have a number of innovations such as the new Pratt & Whitney PurePower engines (PW1700G the E175-E2 and PW1900G the E190-E2 and E195-E2), new wings, fully fly-by-wire flight controls and advances in other systems that will result in double-digit improvements in fuel consumption, maintenance costs, CO² emissions and external noise compared to the current generation E-Jets.
In one class typical configuration, the E175-E2 was extended into a row of seats, in comparison with the E175 of the current generation, and will have capacity for up to 88 passengers, while the E190-E2 maintains the same size E190 of up to 106 seats. But the E195-E2 compared to the current E195, grew three rows of seats and can accommodate up to 132 seats.
The E190-E2 expected to enter service in the first half of 2018. The E195-E2 is scheduled to enter service in 2019 and the E175-E2 in 2020.
