Embraer has just received Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency) certification for the sixth version of the Ipanema agricultural aircraft. Two meters longer wingspan and ability to carry a total volume 16% higher in the hopper, the Ipaema 203 can spray a crop area 20% higher compared to its predecessor.
In Ipanema 203 winglets (wing tips) have been redesigned, increasing control and improving the spray efficiency, Embraer informs. In addition, the aircraft has a new air conditioning system, safety belt and air bag and higher cabin with new ergonomic design. The control levers and pedals have been redesigned, with smoother corners, which enable even more precise controls.
According to Alexander Solis, director of Embraer unit in Botucatu, where the aircraft is produced, the new aircraft will offer greater productivity to farmers, with lower operating costs and greater comfort for the rider.
The new model is an enhanced version of Ipanema 202, which became the first aircraft produced in series in the world to leave the factory already certified to fly with ethanol, the same fuel used in automobiles. With this differential, the plane has a reduced environmental impact and costs of both operation and maintenance. About 40% of Ipanema aircraft operational fleet uses ethanol as fuel.
