Pratt & Whitney tests E190-E2 engines Engine of the new Embraer aircraft performs first flight installed on a 747SP


Pratt & Whitney successfully held the first PurePower PW1900G engine flight, which will equip the new Embraer E190 and E195-E2-E2.

The engine is derived from the PurePower family, which also equips the Bombardier CSeries (PW1500G) and Airbus A320neo (PW1100G-JM). Currently the PurePower series accumulates more than 23,000 flight hours and 40,000 cycles.

The new engine was installed in a Boeing 747SP Pratt & Whitney, used as plane-laboratory, should conduct an extensive battery of flight tests. The tests are being conducted in Mirabel in the province of Quebec, Canada.

In addition to the E-Jets E2 program, Pratt & Whitney work with Embraer as part of the consortium that provides the V2500-E5 engine used in tactical freighter KC-390. In addition, the manufacturer is also responsible for providing supplies the auxiliary power of the E-Jets program E2.
