Unemployment is growing, but they do not discourage

With the crisis, more and more Brazilians become "multitasking" (ImagesBazaar / Getty Images)

A legal assistant who is also a manicure, a technician in telephone selling cosmetics, a lawyer who discovered expert burgers. In times of increased unemployment and decreased income, even those with jobs are exploring a new career path. According to research by the National Industry Confederation (CNI), almost half of Americans (48%) sought an additional job to strengthen the family budget in the last 12 months - two years ago, they were 25%. Many of these people have made the economic crisis to undertake a push or launch a new trade. In the search, these people give face to a new phase of the country's labor market.

Euzelia Lima, 51, is one of those characters. During the day she works as a typist processes at the Court of the State of São Paulo. At night, do hair, waxing, nail, hand and foot in a salon who improvised on your part - your customers are relatives, neighbors, friends, friends of friends. On weekends, makes nozzles as a cleaner, and, between one work and another, took the opportunity to sell products from Avon. "And I still clean, step and cook at home. But this is not renumbered" he says, joking. "We live in a rich country - badly governed, it is true - but it is a country of opportunities Who wants to work, can not get discouraged and cross your arms.."

With its various works, Euzelia, neighborhood resident of Sapopemba, on the far east side of São Paulo, manages income between 2500 and 3000 reais per month. It is less than about 4000 real she made four years ago, when it dedicated to one job, as commercial manager of Carrefour. She left the old job for personal reasons and, even with less money, despite the multiplication of affairs, it seems not keep repentance. "The only thing I miss is the salary," he says.

Cases such as multitasking Euzelia put in a different light the current numbers of the labor market. The latest, released last Thursday by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) reports that unemployment measured by the National Sample Survey of Households (continuous PNAD) reached 8.7% in the quarter ended in August. It is the highest level of historical indicator series, which started in 2012. In all income brackets there are people looking for additional activities to strengthen the family budget. "This is a direct result of the general fall of income and purchasing power," says Maria Carolina Marques, CNI economist.

The real estate lawyer Davison Gilberto Freire, 37, also part of this universe of Brazilians who accumulates offices in a country with falling incomes and rising unemployment. He lost much of his clientele because of the construction sector crisis - the industry must cut more than half a million jobs by the end of the year, according to estimates presented on Friday by the Industrial Union of Civil State Building São Paulo (Sinduscon-SP). With weaker movement, Freire began to go to the office three days a week. He was behind an extra activity to occupy their free time - and stop the bank account of sangria - both days which now has to spare. And so the lawyer was rediscovered in the universe ... the burgers.

With the dish, which until then was only for their own consumption, he had relatives and condominium neighbors as first customers. So much for a year, and Freire already provides for bakeries and small restaurants. "The supermarket burgers are very bad," he says. Advocate gourmet, which already has about 60 regular customers, enough to prepare up to 80 kilograms of meat per week.

He even diversified menu. Today, it sells hamburger steak, skirt steak, termite, chicken, stuffed with cheddar cheese and mozzarella buffalo, which ensures it until 3000 extra reais per month. Some of the money is used to pay her daughter's college bills. What began as a hobby turned into a business, which, according to him, is more pleasurable than the law. Freire has eight years of experience in real estate and says not see possibility of improving in the short-term sector. Already in burgers, can you dream of its own plant. "In four or five years, who knows?"

The case is similar to Freire Marcelo da Silva, 43. He has 15 years experience as a personal trainer - and only in 2015 lost five of the 13 he had. "People are cutting spending. And the first is personal," he says."But you can not sit still, putting the stick in government. You have to find alternatives." Silva became seller. With the contacts he made during his career, set up a network of suppliers - and sells the need requires. Today, it sells items such as watches, imported perfumes, nutritional supplements, cosmetics, shoes and gym clothes. The tip of the pencil, is gaining between 50% and 60% more than it received with the five clients who lost.

An old and well-aimed buzzword - Turning crisis into opportunity is an old cliche of business consultants, but, as demonstrated by the examples of Euzelia, Freire e Silva, the maximum follow valid."The crisis serves to give opportunity to aoida markets underexplored," says David Jerome, Sebrae São Paulo consultant. He cites the areas of technology, beauty and services in general, which continue to grow despite the weak economy.

You have to be adequate for the times of crisis, to understand where the economy is going, says the consultant. The adjustment can be with an additional self-employment or opening a business.Entrepreneurs, Jerome leaves three tips: "invest in marketing staff, intensify the relationship with customers and always use the available technology."

The finding that the maxim "make the crisis an opportunity" follows accurate is also the technical manager of Embratel Hermes Batista do Nascimento. At 59, he decided to enter the direct sales business. Next to the wife, started offering products of Mary Kay in July and this month the Polishop. In these three months, after serving eight-hour shift in the source work, he comes home to set contacts, spreadsheets and applications list. Weekends are used for meetings and gatherings to provide the goods.

"The extra income will not be higher than my salary, at least not in the short term. The idea is to restore the standard of living that we had years ago," says Nascimento. The onslaught with Polishop is still in its infancy, but with the trade of makeup, lipsticks, eyeliners and corrective Mary Kay he has already achieved profit corresponding to 60% of invested capital at the beginning.

Not every initiative will give results, it is true, and not all people who seek additional work are savvy entrepreneur. But, as the above examples show, there is unemployed, there is also multiempregados.
