A TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A320-200 on behalf of TAM Airlines, registration PR-MBO performing flight JJ-8361/PZ-707 (dep Mar 20th) from Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP (Brazil) to Ciudad del Este (Paraguay), landed on Ciudad del Este's Guarani Airport's runway 05 just after midnight, the aircraft veered right off the runway about 405 meters down the runway before the crew managed to steer the aircraft back onto the runway. There were no injuries, the aircraft sustained minor damage.
The French BEA reported based on information from Paraguay's AIB, that the occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated by Paraguay's AIB. In addition to minor damage to the right main gear and rivets in the area of the cargo hold there were 4 runway edge lights destroyed.
The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Ciudad del Este until Apr 1st 2016, 11 days and 4 hours, then positioned to Sao Paulo as flight JJ-9950 and resumed service afterwards.
