Earthquake of 7.5 magnitude shakes the border region between Peru and Brazil

An earthquake of 7.5 magnitude shook on Tuesday the central-southern region of Peru, with its epicenter in the Amazon, in the border area with Brazil, causing alarm in the population, officials said.There are no reports of casualties or damage.

According to the Geological Survey of the United States (USGS), the quake reached 7.5 magnitude and was centered in the region of Madre de Dios, 173 km northwest of the city of Iberia, on the border with the Brazilian state of Acre.

According to Peruvian press, the earthquake occurred at 17:45 location (20h45 GMT) and was realized in the cities of Cuzco, Tacna, Pucallpa and Arequipa, and also in northern Chile and Bolivia.
