The Minister of Civil Aviation, William Ramalho, announced that it will deliver the new courtyard of Santo Dumont Airport in Rio de Janeiro. Altogether they were invested 57.5 million reais in the work performed for the reconstruction of pavement and modernization of the flow of water and ground operations system.
"The new Santos Dumont offers high level of passenger comfort and resident of the city, which can now combine shopping and pleasure in one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world," said the Minister of Aviation, William Ramalho. It complements, "This is a work that positively impacts the entire loading operation and landing at the airport."
The new court has a new boarding / disembarking remote position. Santos Dumont is replaced by 22 positions: eight assisted by bridges and 14 remote. The reconstruction of 75,300 m² courtyard was performed on ten stages, designed to reduce the impact on airport operations. The antique finish the courtyard was completely demolished. The new structure was reinforced, was implemented a new ground drainage system and applied new concrete pavement, and road markings.
In addition the Minister has authorized the opening of a new commercial space in SDU, which includes a hotel with 300 rooms available, convention center and business center. The work performed on the 2nd floor boarding will expand the airport food court and adds 12 sites to shops along was designed 4 bathrooms more on site.
